Atlantic Cities

The first French female oceanographer, Anita Conti, was born 120 years ago in Saint-et-Oise. She spent most of her life at sea and gained great notoriety by creating the first fishing maps between the two world wars, at the time there were only navigation maps.

In Atlantic Cities, we also recognize the key role that Anita Conti played in the development of good fishing practices and her contribution to the participation of women in maritime affairs, as a She4Sea pioneer.
